Let's be honest, I've been on a setback- since about Christmas. You know that joke?
Guess what I got for Christmas?
Fat! I got Fat for Christmas.
(That joke makes me laugh...seriously) But that's what happens. We're either good all year or we just let our "allowances" take over during the Holidays. After all whats the point of controlling your diet when there's cookies, cakes, pies, your grandmothers triple-decker death by chocolate cake. (If anyone's grandma actually makes this-please let me know IN DETAIL how amazing terrible it is.)
But the truth is, it happens to ALL of us. We are not perfect. Only God is.
So why do we punish ourselves for having that ONE extra cookie (okay it was really 4 cookie dough oreos((yes with wheat! UGH!)) why do we jump on the hate train of hating our bodies, hating ourselves because 'we're not strong enough?'
The TRUTH? Because we haven't become the warriors we are meant to be yet. The temptations get easier to hurdle every time we make a fist and say 'NO! DEATH TO THE COOKIE MONSTER WHO LIVES IN MY STOMACH.' With every glass of water we drink, every apple we bite into, every workout, exercise, meditation we become one step closer to living empowered lives of health.
You know that saying, the battle may be lost but the war isn't won yet? It's true! It in fact takes many battles to win the war. You can do it. You can win this war. Not every battle unfortunately is meant to be won. (We wish because that would make life easier). But we can jump back on our horse, we can take our weapon of choice (Extra water for the day, planned meals, an extra exercise, cleaning out the cabinets) and charge!
I came across a beaut of a verse earlier when thinking about setbacks.
"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
Many people who tried have tried to diet and failed. But Many others have also won.

Start again with the next meal, extra vegetables + more protein (skip the carb) or an extra glass of water. Start again fresh the next day and try a new exercise. Arm yourself with healthy snack choices for the day and don't get tempted. I find it best to move the box of doughnuts to the other side of the room when I am sitting in the break room at work. And to keep my water close by.
You can do this. I know you can. It will get easier. Keep pushing and become the warrior you are meant to be.
