NEW RECIPE THURSDAY!!
This is also a pretty simple recipe...okay well maybe I'll let you be the judge of your definition of simple.
I originally found this recipe at Live Life Active
Ingredients:
1 pound ground meat. (Chicken, Turkey, or Bison, are all good LEAN meats)
1/3 cup of gluten free steal cut oatmeal
1 tbsp of Garlic
1 tsp of Flax Seed
1 tsp of Onion Seasoning
1 tsp of Thyme
1 tsp of Basil
1 tsp of Parsley
The original recipe calls for 6 tablespoons of egg whites, which essentially equals 3 large egg whites.
Topping:
1 cup cottage cheese
12 tbsp of pasta sauce (your choice)
1. Preheat oven to 435 degrees. Combine first 9 ingredients in a bowl. You can use your hands or a spoon. Mush or stir until ingredients are blended together.
2. I used an ice cream scoop to dish out the meat into 12 even balls or patties. Bake for 20mins
3. Once the timer goes off, pull the muffin tray from the oven and top patties with sauce and cheese. You can use a tbsp to dish out the sauce and a regular spoon for the cottage cheese.
(In this step you can always use whatever type of sauce you prefer, and the cottage cheese can be omitted or replaced with mozzarella, or Parmesan You can also add other toppings if you like The original site stated they blogger didn't enjoy cottage cheese so she placed hers in a blender to ground out the chunks. I did not do this, because I'm okay with cottage cheese. You'll be able to tell in the picture below.)
4. Cook for another 7-10mins until toppings are bubbling.
Blessings Everyone!
