I was pouring through my emails yesterday and came across one from PCOS Diet Support. Tarryn included a research article from Clinical and Transaltional Endocrinology from Around the Globe that talked about the QUALITY of life of those women who have PCOS.
You can click the link for the full report, but I'll get right down to the conclusion of it. "In PCOS, changes in appearance, particularly obesity and hirsutism, reduce physical dimensions of quality-of-life and decrease sexual satisfaction. The role of biochemical, endocrine and metabolic parameters as well as menstrual irregularities and infertility appeared to be less important. Clinicians should pay attention to the psychosocial dimensions of PCOS on an individual basis, regardless of symptom severity or treatment response."
With all this talk about self love this week, I just really wanted to stress how important it is for everyone to practice self love. Especially women with PCOS. This journey is hard enough. Finding a resolution for whatever symptoms you are struggling with the most. I came across another email from PCOS Diva about, get this, the Positives of PCOS! Amy, PCOS Diva, has a regular podcast with professionals and specialists on everything PCOS. I recommend taking a look at these Podcasts. This one inparticular is with Dr. Nancy Dunne who has studied PCOS for many years. She obtained her medical degree at National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1989 & a Master of Arts/Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University in 2002. Before that she was an obstetrical RN & a homebirth midwife.
One of the very first things she states for positives on PCOS is"When you are a high androgen inherently insulin resistant women, what it means is that you got stronger bones. You have stronger muscles. If you have a few more years of delayed childbearing when you’re a young woman, it means that you have more time to develop competencies in your social group and in your personal life that a woman who is absorbed childbearing and child rearing from a very young age does not necessarily have the opportunity to focus on and develop."
Find perspective in during a stressful time and turn your mess into a message. Loving and accepting yourself through that process only makes the journey just a little be easier.
In order to take care o those around you, you have to take care of yourself. Be able to give more, when you love yourself more.
Be patient with yourself. Whether you're unhappy with your weight, ravaged by disease, or just trying to make it through the day. Love yourself first.
Blessings,
A
P.s. I probably won't be back till Sunday, I will be enjoying time with family the next two days . See you then! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thank you for reading!
